eSAP - A Care Assessment Framework (CAF) initiative spanning Adult Social Care and the NHS. The longer term aim of this project is to link in with NHS Lorenzo via a standardised eCAF Messaging layer. The deliverables included; to securely integrate care and assessment records across a partnership of 7 organisations comprising of Local Authority Social Services departments, PCTs and Acute Trusts, the delivery of a data warehouse and web application that securely integrates the NHS Programme for IT (NPfIT), the National Network for the NHS (N3), the Government Secure Intranet (GSI) and the Government Connect Secure Extranet (GCSx) with access control implemented via two-factor authentication.

Key project management role reporting to the Project Partnership Board, working with the end user customers and 3rd party suppliers. Responsibilities included; project initiation documentation including the business case, procurement, creation and management of the project team, project governance and risk management, business requirements, end-user awareness raising sessions, defining the project delivery plan with multiple work streams and matrix management of teams across different geographic locations. Procurement was via an OJEU approach to supplier selection with supplier and contract management via an NHS partnership framework agreement,

Ensured that Project Board approval (to initial costs and targets) was obtained on all key stages up to delivery and successfully handed the project over to a permanent project manager.


Swift - A specialist casework management and Supporting People application for Adults Social Services with integration into financial accounting systems. The application was based upon an Oracle 9i solution delivered via a Citrix thin client and subsequently migrated to Oracle 10g with a Java J2EE front end application.

Full end to end project management encompassing the definition, design and delivery of the migration including the commissioning of new hardware, followed by the decommissioning of the legacy Citrix infrastructure.



Business Objects XI - The upgrade of a Business Objects 6.5 reporting platform to Business Objects XI. The original solution was a departmental reporting tool with several hundred reports and associated Business Objects universes. The new platform was delivered as a corporate solution with the ability to consolidate multiple diverse data repositories onto a single unified scalable Wintel architecture.

Led a team to analyse the existing deployment, architect the new solution, implement a migration and test strategy prior to successfully deploying the new platform into the organisation.

Group Records Management Programme - The objective set by the programme was to consolidate the number of global data feeds being maintained within the Banks core data warehouse and to ensure records management and retention policies achieved compliance with; the group business needs, TNA 2002 standards and US DoD 5015 standards.

Project Manager reporting into the EMEA Programme Manager for the full project lifecycle. Completed the initial analysis and risk profiling of the global core feeds, production of the business case justification for the programme and then delivered the core feeds consolidation for the UK, France, Switzerland, Italy and African work streams. Subsequently produced a feasibility study and delivered a proof of concept to implement a federated records management solution based upon an IBM DB2 and WebSphere IICE infrastructure on AIX Unix.



Sanctions - This was a programme of highly sensitive and confidential work streams supporting the business across the full breadth of its domestic and international business units in relation to anti-money laundering and terrorist funding. The projects are classified as a ‘Control Issue of Group Level Significance’ with a financial impact in excess of £150m.

Whilst taking the lead Project Management role on the Group Records Management Programme, I supported the sanctions programme by concurrently running a number of the work streams for this programme.

Electronic Data Systems (EDS)
September 2005 – September 2007

Internet Job Bank 3 - A high profile Department for Work & Pensions content management and publishing system based upon the Stellent Enterprise Content Management solution from Oracle. The two key deliverables were; the consolidation of multiple UK and European job vacancy databases into a single data warehouse for presentation into the application and a front end web enabled interface. The user community included internal users, public access and recruitment agencies all with different access profiles enabling the ability to publish, add, manage and view content. The application was designed with a multiple language interface and delivered in excess of 15 million transactions per month.

Full project management role responsible for multiple Wintel work streams delivering the application and supporting infrastructure into a clustered data centre environment. This was a particularly challenging and complex project with a full test requirement that included; proof of concept, integration testing, performance testing, user acceptance testing, penetration testing and operational acceptance testing. Strong stakeholder management, governance and control was key to the successful delivery with the final service take on document encompassing 72 pages.


BCS - A .Net and SQL project to migrate a 50 user database application to a data centre managed, web enabled enterprise application scaling to in excess of 22,000 users with full telephony integration.

Performance testing demonstrated that the application wasn't capable of scaling to the user base requirements and delivery dates were slipping. I was brought in as a Subject Matter Expert on project delivery to turn around this underperforming project. After instigating a strategic review, I disbanded the existing project team, brought in specialised resources and engaged with Microsoft UK to fine tune and optimise the business rules design and SQL query engine. The new project was rebaseIined and delivered to the revised costs and dates

Strategic partners included County Councils, North West Regional Development Agency, European Regional Development programmes, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Department for Business Enterprise& Regulatory Reform.

Direct responsibility for defining the governance framework and enabling the programme to adhere to quality, delivery and cost objectives.
